Coming out of Saint-Cyr as a 20 year old major in 1869, Fernand de Langle's Cary began his military career in the staff of general Trochu in 1870. He was very seriously wounded in the battle of Buzenval. Starting on the battlefield, his career would end up on the battlefield in 1917...
