Long-time western Washington newspaper columnist Chuck Sigars describes his journey from alcoholism to recovery, to health and fitness, and what happened next. Medical crises, financial crises, pick a crisis and quite possibly Chuck Sigars lived through it, sober and, as it turned out, by walking. Along the way, there were happy times, too, including a daughter's marriage and the subsequent birth of a grandson, and finally a callback to a former life, as he was cast in a Seattle feature film, "Winning Dad." And at the end, taking a cue from a helpful doctor, he realized what he had always known, somehow: Seeking out joy is the only thing that really matters. And despite the challenges, the fear, the worry, and a few sleepless nights, along with his constant, daily walking up steep hills of the Pacific Northwest, he found it.
