Let God Be True

Autor Walden L. Owen Jr Ilustrat de Jonathan L. Owen
en Limba Engleză Paperback
The older scientists who originally developed and supported the theory of evolution are dying off and a new breed of scientist is taking up residence on the "research block." Without taking a position on either Creation or Evolution they are determined to follow truth rather than theory and see where it leads. One of their basic questions is, "If an organism cannot live unless all its vital parts are intact, how could it develop over time while these vital parts were forming?" I want you to look especially at the segment dealing with the explosion of Mt. St. Helens which has been called by many, "a miniature Genesis flood." Then ask yourself the question, "Does geology demand millions of years for certain features to form or could they happen quickly?" excerpt from the book - Let God Be True: With the explosion of Mt. St. Helens in Washington State, the catastrophe of the Genesis flood was replicated, only on a much smaller scale. As twenty million tons of TNT blast energy was released in the Mt. St. Helens explosion, a hundred sixty square miles of pine forest was blown down and scattered like match sticks. This took all of six minutes. The blast catapulted a huge bulk of debris into Spirit Lake creating a tidal wave that reached 860 feet above its normal level. The wave swept enough pine logs back into the lake to cover half its 4 square miles of surface. Another gigantic portion of debris swept down and blocked the north fork of the Toutle River drainage basin. Steam explosion pits were formed as many feet of hot ash covered glacier ice. The clash of 550 degree ash with cold, glacier ice produced steam where the ash and ice met. Steam continued to generate until enough pressure was produced to cause huge explosions. These explosions formed gigantic pits, some a hundred feet in depth. The intricate gully and rill effect looked exactly like what can be observed in our Western Badlands today. These formations were produced in just 5 days. Landslide material blocked the north fork of the Toutle River for two years. Without normal outflow, pressure continued to build up from a lake behind the lava dome. Eventually, on March 19, 1982, the pressure caused a huge mud flow that gauged out the blockage and cut a series of new channels for the river. A miniature Grand Canyon was created, involving a whole series of complex canyons, some of which were over a hundred feet deep. The canyon walls displayed the unusual, water deposited layers so familiar to those who study the topography of the Grand Canyon. All of these features were carved out in just one day.
