Letting Go

I have been writing for over fifty years, but it is only recently that I realized what I was doing. Turns out I had convinced myself I was simply telling stories in the first person. Letting Go, my latest publication, continues my efforts to compose autobiographical poems and short stories but now my intent is to try to understand my relationships with others. I have finally realized that most of us focus too much on what is going on around us when true introspection comes from defining what is going on inside us. What my writing is, then, is a journey towards self discovery! As I intimate in the poem entitled "Letting Go," self-awareness is a path to enlightenment. As Lao Tzu once said, "Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom." After all these years, I now wouldn't have it any other way.
