Life in the Lower Manning Valley

Thomas Wootton has been convicted of theft and sentenced to seven years with transportation to New South Wales, Australia. On arrival, he takes in the unfamiliar sights and sounds of the new country. He also hears the sound of the lash on convicts' backs. How will he survive?

William Wynter and his family have not prospered since the end of the Napoleonic Wars. He has been told there is land for the taking and opportunities for a better life in New South Wales. He makes the decision to migrate with his family.
