Life's too short to live without cheesecake

Autor Jo Sherring
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 5 aug 2018
Why can't I lose weight? It's a common question to a common problem. Why is it that some people have the motivation for weight management and others don't? Motivation is a complex issue, and losing weight usually isn't as simple as setting a goal, adopting a positive attitude or trying to create new, healthy habits. Most of us have tried and failed with these techniques when it comes to losing weight! That does not make us weak, lazy or lacking in priorities - it just makes us human. What drives people motivationally is an area full of myths and misconceptions. There is no place where this is more evident than in the field of health, fitness and weight loss. Unfortunately, when we don't understand how we work motivationally, we end up frustrated, guilty and quite often, fatter. Motivation is a normal, human resource to be embraced and celebrated - it is not a force to be battled or judged. If you have struggled with motivation for weight management, there are perfectly reasonable explanations hidden within your individual motivation. You just don't know what those reasons are! In "Life's too short to live without cheesecake" Jo Sherring takes you on a journey to learn how your motivation really works, to accept it as a unique part of your human nature, and to learn how to work in harmony with it for long term health and weight management.

Notă biografică

Jo Sherring is an occupational therapist who graduated from the University of Sydney in 1996 and spent twenty years working in the field of mental health. It was here that Jo developed a deep curiosity about human motivation and the factors that enabled people to make positive changes in their lives. Jo's reflections and research in this area led her to develop a number of tools to support better engagement of motivation. She has spent several years teaching health and disability staff about motivational concepts and helping clients to move past 'a lack of motivation'. Jo lives in the tropical Australian city of Townsville with her husband and two children, where she continues to work in healthcare.
