Lincoln's Advice for America in the 21st Century His Words Still Speak

Autor Glen Aubrey
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 27 oct 2013
Were Lincoln alive today what would his response be to the immense and complex issues confronting the United States of America? In Lincoln's day the issues facing the country dating from Lincoln's first political speech (1838) until his death in the opening of his second term (1865) were momentous to his generation, just as the issues facing the country in the early 21st Century are immense to its generation. The people of Lincoln's day needed leadership. The people of the United States today also need leadership-not just any kind of leadership-but leadership that is anchored solidly on the fundamental principles and practices of the Constitution of the United States and the Declaration of Independence. Within the understanding that people of Lincoln's generation were as people are today in their essential characteristics, good and bad, join in an investigation that utilizes Lincoln's own words from his early career and adapts them in principle to the practices of today. Lincoln was a great leader who rescued the Union and restored the country. We can learn from his leadership-if we simply take the time to read and then apply what we learn into the contemporary circumstances that define our issues.

Notă biografică

Glen Aubrey is an only son, a father of a girl and a boy now grown, and grandfather to five boys (from the daughter's side of the family) and three girls (from the son's side of the family). A professional musician since the 1970s, in 2011 he won an Emmy ® for a video (TV) and audio commercial production. He is a pianist, composer (see www.glenaubrey.com), and arranger of some six thousand pieces of music, some 50 original songs published through The Nazarene Publishing House (Lillenas) along with thousands of published and unpublished music arrangements. He has conducted and produced multiple singing and performing groups, including choirs in and for churches, Christian Camps, and Conferences. Mr. Aubrey has consulted nationally on building business Core Teams and programming arts team production, featuring mentoring and duplication for churches and related non-profit organizations located in California, Colorado, Virginia, Arizona, Oregon, and Tennessee. Glen says he has learned much and continues to learn daily to walk with Christ, one step and one day at a time. He is fond of quoting the gospel song writer, Audrey Mieir, who composed: "To be used of God, To Sing, To Speak, To Pray. To be used of God to show someone the way. I long so much to feel the touch of His consuming fire; To be used of God is my desire." Mr. Aubrey heard Audrey Mieir in person in the sixth grade and that song has been part of his memory and use ever since then. This is Glen Aubrey's testimony of God's profound provision and miracle-working power: "God is real, He's alive, and is working in hearts and lives today." It is his hope that you will seek the Lord fully, with your whole heart and soul, and experience His peace which transcends (surpasses) all understanding.
