A dry and bitter story (vital and optimistic at the same time) that narrates the unimaginable life of Bi, a "writer" born in Auschwitz who was baptized with the letter B and a series of numbers tattooed on his thigh. Bi commits suicide shortly after the fall of Communism in Hungary, in 1990, and his editor friend Keserz, tries to narrate his life while he searches for Bi's unpublished novel. In 150 pages Kertisz describes the torture of writing about horror and, defends the power of love, literature and memories to overcome Auschwitz.
