This is the story of Bubba Jackson, a thirteen-year-old boy whose dreadful life illustrates the fact that God, in His great love and mercy, never abandons us. Bubba is the product of a broken home. His father deserted the family several years earlier, and he lives with his alcoholic mother, who resents being stuck with him. He makes terrible grades in school, is picked on by other students, and fails at practically everything he does.
