When Baby Bear cries loudly, it is a sign that his cup is spilling over. Baby Bear's thimble size cup is full often and spills over alot.

Mama Bear knows she must be patient and kind, because Baby Bear can not help that his cup is only thimble sized. She knows that baby bears need big bears (Mama Bears, Papa Bears, Grannie Bears, or even Uncle Bears) to bring invisible saucers to catch the overflow of baby bear's feelings and help their cups grow.

She knows her loving hugs and words will make his invisible cup grow and that they are the invisible saucer that catch the overflow of Baby Bear's feelings.

Marita Frackowiak, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist at the Center for Therapeutic Assessment in Austin, TX. She is a founding member of the Therapeutic Assessment Institute and a certified practitioner of Therapeutic Assessment with adults, children, adolescents, and couples. Dr. Frackowiak has worked with Dr. Stephen Finn (the founder of the model) for more than a decade providing clinical services, conducting research, writing, and providing trainings on Therapeutic Assessment. Her current focus, in addition to clinical work, is lecturing internationally and offering consultation for clinicians wanting to learn the model. Dr. Frackowiak writes Therapeutic Stories such as, Little Bear's Cup and Saucer, in her clinical practice to help children and parents understand complex psychological concepts. She is a mother of two incredible daughters who offer inspiration and best critique of her work.
