Live Shadows of Wayang

Autor Stella Strannik
Paperback
At first a few words about "Wayang," which may not be familiar to everyone. Wayang is an Indonesian shadow-play. It includes both performance and dolls, but mostly it is a ritual of communicating to the spirits. Interesting, isn't it? But this is far not all... The plot is based on fantastic, full of tragedies and irretrievable losses story that happened, however, in the real world. You may wonder where. It all began in far-away, almost legendary East Indies, may be, even on the way to it - near to probably the best cape in the world - the Cape of Good Hope. Three hundred years later it will be successfully finished there thanks to the meeting of a Russian girl Katya with Netherlands surname Blank and an Englishman Albert Blank with second Indonesian name Budi. That is why three storylines and destines of three characters from three countries - Russia, the Netherlands and Indonesia - are intertwined in the novel. I think the novel might be interesting for audience of any age and literary tastes. But especially, I would recommend it to all history lovers and adventure seekers and, of course, to travelers. The readers will discover striking details of Dutch East Indies and its small plot of land - Bali. Some call it an "an island of thousand temples," the others - "an island of Gods." This way or the other Bali is magnetic. Everyone, who has ever been there, longs to return there again and again. Just imagine 3,28 million people came to visit this land only in 2013. I guess my novel might be of great value for them. It is very easy to form own opinion about this book: you just have to open and read it.
