Notă biografică
Derrick "DC" Chatman was born and raised in Dublin, Georgia and graduated from Dublin High School in 1982. His family environment was full of music and creative arts. He is one of seven sons raised by their mother, Cora Chatman Smith, on Simmons Street in Dublin. Derrick enrolled in Morehouse College in 1982 as a Business Administration major. He began his radio career at WQZY Y96/Dublin in 1989. His main focus was advertising and creating the hugely popular, "Derrick Chatman Show-The Soul of the City," which was the only black music radio station during the late 80s to mid-90s in that area. During that time, Arlinda Garrett chose Derrick Chatman as one of her protégées to help market Master P's music and other projects in Central Georgia. That opportunity launched his career in the record promotions arena. In 1994, Derrick Chatman joined 97.9 WIBB/Macon where he became the youngest Station Sales Manager in history of Macon radio. In 1995, he created "DC's New Artist Profile Radio Show" that launched the careers of DJ Skillz, Young Dro, CMD Styles, Sonny Spoon, and many others. He was blessed with many great opportunities including interviewing President Jimmy Carter, President Bill Clinton, James Brown, Little Richard, and many others. In addition to 97.9 WIBB in Macon, throughout his career DC worked at WMSU in Starkville, Mississippi, WQVE in Albany, Georgia, and WGXA Fox 24 in Macon, Georgia. He also wrote a bi-weekly entertainment column in the 11th Hour Music Magazine, and served as the national host of Herschel Walker's National Talent Competitions across the country. He currently works with Cumulus Media in Savannah, Georgia and is the proud owner of DC Productions Entertainment and Southern Mecca Records. He is excited about the release of his first book and the completion of his website to expand his brand of entertainment, publishing, and promotions.
