In this second Lizzie book, Lizzie make a new friend, Light Feather, who takes her on a horse ride to a local lookout. Unfortunately, it begins snowing, and the two must find refuge in a nearby cave, where Light Feather's cousin finds them. By drawing on their unique cultural differences, for days they are able to survive in the cold on limited sustenance. One surprise builds upon another in this harrowing survival story, with continued hardships ensuing, making it impossible to return home. Can a final surprise save them in the end?
