Look Behind You Guv'ner

Autor David Eteson
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 31 oct 2009
The story of a life from 1928 to 2009. Tells in vivid detail how things were in the poverty of Bermondsey during the 1930s and how that life changed with war and evacuation from London when his love of the countryside and the Great Outdoors was fulfilled. On the other hand his hopes and endeavours for a decent education were never quite realised and in 1946, he left full time education when he received his call up papers and was recruited into the Royal Engineers. Two years in Germany, serving with the British Army of the Rhine ended with demob and return to civilian life - a world to which he didn't belong. He describes his efforts from 1949 searching for a career and finding a social life, resulting in his discovery of the girl to whom he was eventually married for 53 years. Now a widower with a career behind him, he describes his joy at being pater familias to an extended and close knit family.

Notă biografică

David Eteson is now retired after a working life in industry and lives in The Thames Valley. Throughout his life, he has been an enthusiastically mediocre participant in many sports. Now, with the vigour and stamina of youth far behind him, he has found it necessary to seek less strenuous interests. He is a member of various local organisations but spends much of his time reading and writing - in the broadest possible sense. His memoirs were published under the title "Look Behind You, Guv'ner". He has also written short stories and published a number of booklets on subjects, mainly historical, which have interested him. The Saturday Circle is his first novel.
