Notă biografică
Frederik Buylaert is a professor in social history at Ghent University. He studied Medieval and Early Modern History at Ghent University, Leiden University, and Columbia University and then lectured at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (2011-2016), including research stays at Columbia University and the University of California - Berkeley. Having published on social mobility and urban history, he then led an ERC project on state formation (2016-2022) and now leads a project on lordship and agrarian capitalism (2021-2026). Buylaert is a member of the Young Academy of Europe and of the Belgian Royal Academy (Committee for Law).Miet Adriaens obtained a MA in History from KU Leuven in 2009. She worked as a historical researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel/KU Leuven. She has published on seigneurial lordship and gift culture in late medieval Brabant and currently works outside of academia.
