ENGLISH DESCRIPTIONThis is the story of Isabel, a wise woman--some say "witch"--in the tumultuous first years of the 17th century, who demonstrates the strength and value that all women possess inside and that cannot be silenced, even by an institution as powerful as the Inquisition. At the beginning of the 17th century, Isabel and Ana are two sisters from a town in the Spanish Levant who are hidden by their parents to protect them from the men who come for them. Isabel, the older one, senses that they will not see their parents again. Their father told her one last sentence before hiding them: "Go toward the sea." The next morning, the girls flee the village, which has been destroyed. After a night in the forest, they finally arrive at the sea, and there they find Joan. He takes them in like a father, aware that Isabel will never recover and that she will seek revenge. Joan works as a perfume maker, and Ana and Isabel accompany him through the towns in the region. One day in Altea, Isabel, now a teenager, becomes aware that a boy is watching her, and she gets nervous. The boy greets her and tries to chat with her. Over time, Isabel starts to feel something for him that she has never felt for anyone. One sleepless night, pursued by the nightmares that have afflicted her since her parents' death, Isabel walks toward the beach. There, she sees women arriving from all over, and she approaches to find out what they are doing. She sees them dancing around a bonfire and many of them, nude, suddenly put an herb inside themselves that seemingly provokes an irresistible pleasure. She watches, fascinated, but is suddenly discovered...
