Four essays exploring themes of contemporary antiblack violence and whiteness from a race and class perspective. Gaither argues that the reason for the pervasive unawareness of political imprisonment in the United States not only stems from the government's ability to frame the discourse, but the reluctance on the part of activists themselves to redefine political imprisonment in a manner that reflects the historical and present set of relations of domination.
