Lottie Dell (Bennett) Wyatt experienced life like few other people. Born on the western frontier in 1869, she graduated from college, had a family, and lived the Wild West life on E. J. "Lucky" Baldwin's ranch in Los Angeles. The stress from divorcing her husband and the hardships of life on her Montana homestead finally caused her to go insane. For 29 years and 29 days, the Warm Springs Insane Asylum was her home during a time when few inmates survived the horrific institutional conditions for more than a few years.
