Patty and Buck finished their picnic and set off on more walking deeper into the forest. She w as entranced by the plants that she saw. The biodiversity was amazing as apart from the orchids there were bromeliads, medicinal plants, ancient trees that had stood for centuries as well as numerous butterflies and birds. Throughout the forest were strategically placed hides from which you could watch the wildlife come and go. Buck was a fund of information and could talk about all the plants they saw with great ease. At last whilst they were watching some beautiful exotic birds from the quiet of a hide she asked him quietly how he knew so much about the plants. He ended up telling her that he really was a trained botanist and hoped to get a job working as a forest ranger. The tour guide was a stepping stone to gain experience of the jungle. Patty realised there was more to this good looking guy than his undoubted natural assets. "I've never told anyone else that." he said eventually. "I keep it to myself. I don't suppose the resort would be happy to know I really want to work elsewhere." "I won't breathe a word." she answered. "It's lovely to hear you talk about the plants. Plants are my hobby really. I have a greenhouse at home and a large polythene tunnel. I raise lots of things from seed. Most of the things we see here are house plants at home. My Mother sometimes wonders where to put them all. I take hundreds of photographs as well when I walk. Heaven knows what I will use them for." In the seclusion of the hide Buck was acutely aware of the closeness of this woman that he was finding more and more attractive. She on the other hand was enjoying the pleasure of his company and the freedom of the forest. He was glad to see her happy self emerge from the worried girl that had arrived yesterday. When they came to the waterfall it was breathtaking close up and almost frightening in the intensity of the fall, the spray and the noise of the water. She stepped away from it and he put an arm around her shoulders.
