In 2012, when the world was predicted to end according to The Mayan Calender, Lucy is supposed to have been trying to write the next 'Fifty Shades of Grey', but she has changed her mind. And even she isn't really sure what she's writing about anymore. Meanwhile, in a far distant future, another Lucy, also known as Monkeyspawn Skydiamond, is trying to hold onto her memory, and keep her story away from the memory holes, by writing in fanciful tales that encode her vital information within them. She is writing a novel about another Lucy from the past, and telling her story; the one about Lucy's struggle to make sense of her life and her relationships in the face of social forces that she is only now starting to name. The one about the struggle for girls and women to retain a sense of their own humanity in the face of a culture where their "worth" is calculated according to whether or not their particular configuration of body parts is porn-worthy or not. And where they will find themselves shouted down as a "PRUDE!", or a modern day heretic, if they don't subscribe to the view that a least some porn is a worthy cultural creation.
