Notă biografică

Wolfgang Till, born in 1944, as a folklorist feels himself better suited to treat the popular aspext of the Ludwig II phenomenon. However, through his collaboration in such exhibitions as "Bavaria - Art and Culture" (1972) or "Elector Max Emanuel" (1976) he is well versed in the history of the Wittelsbachs and their country. He has conducted research on the subjects of amulets, pilgrimages and votive offerings in Bavaria and at other sites throughout the world. His study on the Upper Bavarian emblematic plant, the edelweiss, was also published by the Brandstätter Verlag. Wolfgang Till was director of the Munich City Museum from 1987 to 2009, in which capacity he initiated many exhibitions on themes in art history and the history of civilisation.
