Luigi Premazzi (1814-1891): Skira exclusive edition

Autor PAOLA SEGRAMORA RIVO
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 25 ian 2023
The book Luigi Premazzi (1814-1891). A Milanese Artist at the Court of the Tsars reconstructs the adventurous life and pictorial production of the Lombard artist for the first time. To date, no text has fully illustrated the work of this prolific painter with an excellent command of oil and watercolour technique. During his long career, he produced urban views and landscapes as well as polished watercolours of the imperial residences of the tsars and the palaces of Russian aristocrats. His works were much appreciated among European collectors and even by three tsars: Nicholas I, Alexander II and Alexander III.

The work features additional insights in order to present a narrative register that is attractive to the reader. In addition to exploring the artist's Italian period, it also goes on to illustrate the prestigious commissions he received in Russia, as well as Premazzi's visits to the Crimea and the Caucasus and his adventurous travels in constant search of subjects to depict.

The book is aimed at art, history and architecture enthusiasts, as well as scholars and students of art history and international collectors who are becoming increasingly interested in acquiring his works on the antiques market.
