"Making Sense Out of the World: Twenty Two Ways to Improve Your Life" is the foundational work or "textbook" written by the author for a thinking skills program he created while a teacher and secondary school administrator. The purpose of the book is not to teach people, what to think, but how to think. The book helps people create a personal philosophy of life in the tradition of the ancient philosophers and modern thinkers who say life should be the best possible choice among all possible alternatives. The book is an attempt to explain the ideas and thoughts that have been the mainstay of Western Civilization for the last 2,500 years from the ancient Greeks to to the present day.
