Recenzii
From the reviews:
The purpose is to present a comprehensive overview of all aspects concerning thyroid cancer. The author does a particularly good job of reviewing the entire literature of thyroid cancer, in particular the literature that pertains to controversies in the treatment of thyroid cancer. He does a wonderful job of addressing these controversies. The sections of the book dealing with nuclear medicine issues are particularly outstanding. The author has done a great job of discussing all aspects of thyroid cancer, and the book clearly meets the objectives. I also enjoyed the fact that this book represents one individual's understanding of thyroid cancer, not a book written by a committee. (Ronald Cohen, Doody Enterprises, Inc. - COPYRIGHT 2006) 4 stars Doody's review
He states his aspiration to make the book ‚easy to read, clinically valuable, authoritative, and enjoyable.’ I believe that he has achieved these aims and has been successful in presenting ‚all sides of controversial issues.’…I highly recommend this book to clinicians and patients alike. (Jayne Franklyn, NEJM)
This book covers all aspects of the management of patients with thyroid cancer and related nodular disease. Both well-established and new clinical information, such as that on genetic and molecular aspects, is presented in comprehensive and exhaustive chapters written on the basis of personal experience in working for 35 years with patients with thyroid disorders, including thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer. I. Ross McDougall, Professor of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at Stanford University, is a well-known and authoritative international expert in the field. The significant contribution of Gerald J. Berry, Professor of Pathology at the same University, has been recognised by the author. The book, which includes an extensive and painstakingly compiled bibliography, is organised into 12 chapters. At the end of each chapter, a summary and a list ofkey facts present the most relevant information and serve a useful didactic role. [T]his book represents a useful practical tool and a source of reflection for thyroid specialists and others. It will occupy a useful position on the desk or in the library of primary care doctors, endocrinologists, nuclear medicine physicians, general and head and neck surgeons, oncologists and radiation on-cologists. Other groups who may find the book of interest are residents, medical students and nurse practitioners when they are researching a patient-related problem. (Nicola Panza and Luigi Mansi, Eur J Nucl Med Mol Imaging, © Springer-Verlag 2006, DOI 10.1007/s00259-006-0203-6)
With several new thyorid cancer books on the market, this has to be one of the best. Beautifully illustrated material will only help to enhance the reputation of this book whose author is an international expert. Dr. M. Haq, RAD Magazine, Oct. 06

Textul de pe ultima copertă
Management of Thyroid Cancer and Related Nodular Disease is an authoritative, readable book covering all aspects of thyroid cancer. The text is extensively referenced and includes personal experience of 35 years working with patients with thyroid disorders, including thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer. The chapters are supplemented with many illustrations including pathology, thyroid and whole-body scans, ultrasounds and other nuclear medicine and radiological studies. Important questions that patients may ask their physicians are highlighted, indicating the topics the physician should cover.
Thyroid anatomy and physiology, as well as the management of thyroid nodules are covered. There are several pathological varieties of thyroid cancer and these are reviewed with examples. A chapter about the etiology and pathogenesis of thyroid cancer covers the role of radiation and gene abnormalities. Chernobyl is referred to in this chapter as well.
Management of Thyroid Cancer and Related Nodular Disease is designed for physicians, including primary care doctors, endocrinologists, nuclear medicine physicians, general and head and neck surgeons, oncologists and radiation oncologists. Others groups who will find an interest in part, or all of the book are residents, medical students, and nurse practitioners when they research a patient-related problem.
