MARICA NATALI THOMPSON has always adored children's books. In eighth grade, when her teacher asked the class to bring in some of their childhood favorites, she brought several grocery bags full which caused many heavy trips to and from the car. Too lazy to bring them back home that afternoon, or the next, or the next; all those dearly loved books ended up being donated to the school library. Weeks later, it was a long and tedious process to sort through the shelves and shelves of library books to finally take them home. Did Marica learn her lesson in procras- tination? Probably not, it's so very easy to put something off until the next day, or week, or year. Marica Natali Thompson is also the author of Oh My Sweet Baby and One Treat After Another, Escargot Books and Music, as well as the illustrator of Summertime, Escargot Books and Music, and The Blue Heron Ranch Cookbook, North Atlantic Books. She grew up in the mountains out- side of Ojai, CA, and now resides in Portland, OR.
