Sculptures of the Roman Imperial Era found in Miletus (late 1^st century BC - 5^th century AD) provide a rich spectrum of statues which were erected for the imperial court - honorary portraits as well as mythological statues and reliefs of figures. Apollo, the main god of the city, is represented foremost among the images of deities.
The sculptures are nowclassified stylistically and presented with respect to the rich material of inscriptions as well as in the context of the places of their erection, thus allowing conclusions to be drawn on the cultural identity of the city and its inhabitants.
