It is the last of a trilogy of Mary Huckleberry books.
The book begins in 1982, the summer between the two heroines' junior and senior years at Traverse City high school. Both of the heroines, Mary Huckleberry and Sally Summerfield grow up considerably that summer. They have their first boyfriends and make decisions that will influence the rest of their lives. The book ends in 1993 and describes the girls' lives as young, married adults. It is a book about possibilities, choices, decisions, and consequences.
The author did the writing and his wife, Anne Sullivan, did the editing. This book is dedicated to her.
