I'm a mother who's terrified of her two little boys coming home one day and revealing that they have fallen prey to a sexual predator. Or worse, that one day my sons will be sexual predators themselves. I am firm in my belief that in order to begin to remedy this pervasive form of abuse, parents need to empower their children with honest words and ideas, starting with the proper words for one's private parts and moving forward with clear examples of not-okay-touches; what happens when someone touches their private parts; what is a safe adult?; examples of bad behaviour and bad choices regarding making decisions about one's private parts, and examples of good behaviour and good choices. It's time to open up the conversation about healthy sexuality and raise strong children who seek to make healthy decisions regarding their private parts. Join a 6-year-old boy as he talks lovingly of his relationship with his mom and as he shares the information she has given him, take this opportunity to allow your own children to ask questions about their own private parts and how to make good decisions.
