Would I be the right man, an orphan at birth, leaving the state of Texas, at the tender age of three, destination unknown, where could she be? You see, in 1927 when I was born, times were tough, and the economy was poor. My father, from what I was told, died six months before I was born from the fangs of a rattle snake lodged in his throat. My mother-God bless her for giving birth to me-died shortly after leaving me on this Earth. Through the loving kindness of others that Jesus showed me, I made it to Michigan-oh, glory be I was married the first time after thirty-six years, left her to fight in Korea, after our honeymoon, crying at the door in tears. As I sadly left her, trembling with fear, then, upon returning home after fourteen long years, my wife and I celebrated for the next twenty-two wonderful years. Left all alone with an empty home after my first wife passed away, I took to the bottle, night and day. For seven years, I carried on this way, praying that the Lord would forgive me for acting this way. Evidently, he did because that's when I met Rose, who needed a place to live.
