Memory and Brain
Autor Larry R. Squireen Limba Engleză Paperback – mar 1987
synapse to a review of the function and structure of neural systems and the organization of cognition. Throughout, the author places current research in historical perspective, and identifies major ideas and themes that have emerged in recent years in order to provide a solid foundation for future
investigations. The book is amply illustrated and contains a useful glossary. It will be of use in advanced undergraduate and graduate courses on memory, and to psychologists and neuroscientists desiring an account of memory that is informed equally by cognitive and neurobiological insights.

Descriere
Drawing on recent work in psychology and neuroscience, this well written text provides a coherent, contemporary account of how memory is organized in the brain. It begins with the synapse and proceeds to a review of the function and structure of neural systems and the organization of cognition. Throughout the book the author takes care to place current research in historical perspective and to identify major ideas and themes in memory research that have emerged inrecent years so as to provide a solid foundation for future work. The book is amply illustrated and contains a useful glossary. Intended for undergraduate and graduate students in psychology and neuroscience, it will also be of value to teachers and researchers desiring a clear, authoritativeaccount of our current understanding of how the brain accomplishes memory and learning.
Cuprins

Recenzii
I feel that this book is a valuable source for teachers, students, and researchers in cognitive science and cognitive neuroscience, because it gives a good account of the neurobiology of learning and memory and of the way in which such research underpins the clinical analysis of memory dysfunction in human beings.
Squire has written an excellent introduction to memory neuropsychology because the text is not only lucid, but makes no assumptions that should not be readily apparent to someone with a basic grounding in biology and psychology...this book can be recommended to students and researchers alike.
