Mending a Broken Heart

All Marcus Evans has ever wanted is a father. It's just been Marcus and his mother for as long as he can remember, and he dreams of how great it would be to have a dad.

When his mother falls in love with Robert Jones, Marcus thinks he is finally going to get his wish. Instead, Robert proves to be an abusive monster who hurts and degrades his new stepson. Finally, Marcus flees the house and ends up on the cold streets. His mother does absolutely nothing to protect him from this horrible fate.

While on the street, he heard a gunshot. As he was going to see what happened, someone shouted, "There's one of them." Marcus ran. He can end up paying for his acquaintances' crimes, or he can accept a mysterious offer for a new start from a surprise benefactor.

Billionaire Walter Hardwick truly wants to help. While the man and his staff sympathize with Marcus, they also make it clear that this help comes with some conditions. As Walter forces Marcus to get his act together and focus on his future, the teenager will realize what a father truly is.
