Recenzii
This book is unique in its presentation with the brief summary of historical knowledge and the coverage of the historical and social evolution of menswear and how it influenced women's wear. I can't think of any other books that compete with this book. In all design courses, I would recommend this book as a reference.
A particular strength of this book is the coverage of the sumptuary laws. I love that! This is something that is not widely understood. I also like the coverage of military uniforms and the section on Menswear's Influence on Women's Fashion. I think it is a fantastic idea to put a section on undergarments. No one does that. I think this book would be a great book for my class. I would adopt this book and I would make it required. This is a book that covers many aspects of men's clothing and is a 'go-to' for style questions.
The new edition would be included in the required reading list for all students on the menswear and design courses. The book may be included in the recommended reading list for media type courses.
This volume would be a good starting point for doing research on menswear, and faculty may find the lists of firms useful in organizing study tours. Libraries supporting any kind of fashion design or clothing construction curriculum should consider purchasing this work.
Extremely good resource. Provides a very good insight into menswear. Most students opt for womenswear and this is encouraging an understanding of the wider options in fashion.
