On 5 November 1854, Russian troops converged on the mountainous ridge known to the British as Inkermann. Their plan was to turn the right flank of the British siege-lines, roll them up and, ultimately, drive both them and their French allies into the sea, thus lifting the siege of Sevastopol. This book tells the story of the battle that ensued.
