Mesoporous Materials for Advanced Energy Storage and Conversion Technologies

Editat de San Ping Jiang, Jian Liu
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 31 mar 2021
Innovation through specific and rational design and functionalization has led to the development of a wide range of mesoporous materials with varying morphologies (hexagonal, cubic, rod-like), structures (silicates, carbons, metal oxides), and unique functionalities (doping, acid functionalization) that currently makes this field one of the most exciting in materials science and energy applications. This book focuses primarily on the rapid progress in their application in energy conversion and storage technologies, including supercapacitor, Li-ion battery, fuel cells, solar cells, and photocatalysis (water splitting) and will serve as a valuable reference for researchers in the field

Notă biografică

Dr. Jiang obtained his BEng in Materials Science and Engineering from South China University of Technology in 1982 and his PhD in Electrochemistry from The City University, London in 1988. Dr. Jiang worked as Senior Research Scientist in CSIRO Manufacturing Science and Technology Division, Australia from 1992 to 2001 and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore as Associate Professor from 2001 to 2010. Since 2010, Dr. Jiang joined Curtin University as a Professor in Department of Chemical Engineering and became the Deputy Director of Fuels and Energy Technology Institute in 2011. Dr. Jiang has over 20 years experience in fuel cells, electrocatalysis, nano and mesoporous materials, nanocomposite materials for energy storage and conversion applications, and is an inventor of the heteropolyacid functionalized mesoporous silica as novel high temperature proton exchange membranes for fuel cells. His research has been extensively supported by funding agencies such as Singapore Agency for Science, Technology & Research, Singapore Defense Science & Technology Agency, Ministry of Education of Singapore, US Air Force Research Laboratory, and US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. After joining Curtin University in July 2010, he has secured one ARC-Linkage and four ARC-discovery projects with research funding of over $3 million as project leader. He has given over 60 invited lectures, published over 280 journal papers, authored and co-authored 10 book chapters, and co-edited three books on fuel cells. He serves as an Editorial Board member for Scientific Reports, Journal of Electrochemistry, Chinese Society of Electrochemistry, and serves as reviewer for over 50 international journals.

Dr. Jian Liu is currently a Senior Lecturer in Department of Chemical Engineering at Curtin University. He obtained his PhD in Physical Chemistry from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Science in 2008 and joined Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, University of Queensland as a research fellow working with Prof. Shi Zhang Qiao and Prof. Max Lu. Dr Liu’s research interests include synthesis of hollow, yolk shell nanostructured materials as delivery vehicles and nanoreactors; synthesis and bio-separation properties of magnetic-silica nanocomposites; and colloidal polymer and carbon spheres. Dr. Liu has published more than 90 peer reviewed journal articles and five book chapters. Dr. Liu has given more than 20 talks at international conferences and meetings as a keynote speaker or invited speaker. He has been awarded the prestigious UQ Foundation Research Excellence Award, Australian Postdoctoral Fellowship, President Award (Chinese Academy of Sciences), France-Australia Science Innovation Collaboration program Early Career Fellowship, 2014 Rod Rickards Fellowship, JSPS Invitation Fellowship, and a Young Scientists Award of the 14th International Congress on Catalysis. Dr. Liu is Editorial Board Member of Current Nanoscience and organising committee member for both the Internation Mesostructure Materials Symposium 2015 and the 19th International Zeolite Congress to be held in Perth in 2019.
