Inspired by the author's real-life experiences, this second hilarious and sweet novel about sixth grade Egyptian immigrant Nadia has her battling school newspaper drama, friendship woes, and some magical mischief, too.

- She has many talents. Roller skating is not one of them.

- She thinks it's high time her school got a new mascot. (Their current one is a silly flower.)

- There was a hilarious ancient Egyptian teacher named Titi trapped in her hippo amulet necklace until she freed him a few months ago. (He then promptly ran off in search of Elvis Presley).

Then three things happen: Nadia becomes a reporter for her school newspaper, Titi shows up as her history teacher (What? But also: Hooray ), and Nadia volunteers to run a contest to choose a new school mascot.


But getting her classmates to agree on a mascot isn't as easy as she thought it would be. Who knew choosing a costumed character could cause such controversy? Being a writer is tricky, too. Nadia is supposed to be a voice for her classmates, but with all the mascot drama, she hardly recognizes them anymore. To top everything off, strange things keep happening to both Nadia and Titi. Could it be that the hippo amulet still holds some secrets?
