James Fenimore Cooper was a 19th century writer known for his historical romances and stories of the sea. His Leatherstocking tales including the novel The Last of the Mohicans are his best-known works. Miles Wallingford is the sequel to Afloat and Ashore. Andrew Drewett is revived and put to bed to recover aboard the Wallingford. He and his family travel to Albany. Later in the story an old woman tells her life story including finding her lost son. The plot includes romances, missed opportunities and a sorrowful deathbed scene.
