Mindful Money: Simple Practices for Reaching Your Financial Goals and Increasing Your Happiness Dividend

Autor Jonathan K. DeYoe Cuvânt înainte de Alice Walker
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 13 feb 2017
Is it possible to be a conscientious citizen of the world and grow wealth? The author, a Buddhist and a financial planner says “yes” and shows exactly how. DeYoe shows how money drives so many of our decisions. But while we worry about earning it, spending it, and saving it, few of us face it head on. The whole point of Buddhism, he says, is “to deal with what is, to look it straight in the eye.” So instead of averting our eyes, deferring to experts, or engaging in get-rich-quick magical thinking, DeYoe shows readers, no matter their income level or spiritual perspective, how to save and invest, pay off debt, and invest for retirement according to their deepest beliefs. The author does all of this while emphasizing that money is merely a tool for providing not only material peace of mind but also “the happiness dividend” we all deserve.

Notă biografică

Jonathan K. DeYoe is a leading California financial advisor, a chartered financial analyst, and a longtime Buddhist. During his twenty years in financial advising, he has managed investments at Morgan Stanley, UBS PaineWebber, and Salomon Smith Barney. In 2001 he founded his own wealth management firm, DeYoe Wealth Management, where he works today, managing over $250 million for nearly 200 families and foundations in the U.S. and overseas.

In his spare time, DeYoe speaks publicly about personal finance and contributes opinion pieces to publications such as Business Insider, Huffington Post, Yahoo! Finance, SF Business Times, The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, The Motley Fool, and The Christian Science Monitor (the irony of the last one is not lost on Jonathan).

In 1994 DeYoe moved to Berkeley, California to attend an M.A. program at the Graduate Theological Union’s Institute of Buddhist Studies (IBS) but found that finance was his true calling. He continues to live in Berkeley, along with his wife and two children.

Alice Walker is a fiction writer, poet, essayist, and the author of the Pulitzer Prize–winning novel The Color Purple. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
