In the next instant, an arrow pierced Andolar high in the chest on the left side, emerging out the back of his robes and turning him half around. Petrion dropped the bow, grabbed Duvain's shield, and stood beside Andolar. He was holding the spell in spite of the arrow The magician started to sag to the ground, but Petrion got his free arm around him and supported him. The shield blocked his view across the canyon, but even in the dim light, he could see the intense look of concentration on the magician's face. The squad has managed through skill and misdirection to get their supplies through to the dwarves, but the cost in lives was high, including one of their own. Now the dwarves want to use them to attack the numerically superior goblins. With mistrust and indifference finally yielding to grudging respect and even friendship, will they risk everything they have won and their future as well to help people of another race win a future of their own, free from the tyranny and hatred of the goblins? It can only be accomplished with skill, teamwork, and maybe some luck. The goblins have skilled leaders and soldiers from the barbarians to aid in their fight, while the dwarves have no experience in the woods or with cavalry. Death will be seeking them at every turn, and is sure to find some of them.
