BT JAMES acquired two skills early on that would serve him well in the writingabilities he would soon discover. A restrictive environment growing up inLebanon, PA often demanded him to sit quietly, so he occupied himself observingwhat was around him. Anyone who knew him back then, however, would also callattention (some concerned but mostly appreciative) to his vivid imagination.
Mr. James was inspired to write PORTRAIT OF AN EGYPTIAN WOMAN in 1989. When family issues caused him to exchange journalism and radio for more predictable work, he concentrated on his own fiction, completing RETRO SUIT (1995) and THE NAPOLEON CHAIR (1996). CONVENIENT ACCESS ROAD (2001) was the most challenging of the four works from two standpoints: literary (first novella) and circumstantial (two widely geographical moves, two drastic employment changes and his father's death). He lives in Harrisburg, PA with his wife and two children.
