Mother and Us

Autor Kathryn Carrington
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 26 ian 2015
Mama and Us, is a story of true events based upon the memories of written notes and experiences of a very impressionable young girl, who moves into her step-grandmother s old house during the mid to late 1960 s and throughout the 70 s. She is overcome with wild, childlike imaginations, of imaginary haunting ghosts and spirits, driven by the desire to escape her current reality that fuels her distinctive need for attention. She is not only abscessed with Georgia Gregory, her step-father s mother, but she is consumed with feelings of the lack of her very own mother s affections. She is forced to endure hidden emotions of inadequacy, self-pity, anger, jealousy, resentment and hate, especially after her mother dies, leaving her with unanswered questions and deep feelings of isolation, inadequacies and resentment. Her innocent, youthful and outlandish perception of things and wild imagination, will take one on a journey experiencing, heart-ache, death, sex and love, while embracing emotional highs and lows, surrounding a sadistic step-father and an undiagnosed Bi-Polar, Schizophrenic, mother, who makes for raising five girls and two boys, an impossible voyage. Faith revisits moments locked in her past, in an attempt, to revive the good natured person that she knows herself to be. Her search for love completely intertwined with the hatred for her mother and the sexual abuse from her step father, fuels an unconscious resentment and lack of trust towards the opposite sex. This leaves her with a fear of intimacy, causing several failed relationships throughout her adult life. Faith is brave in telling her story. Mama and Us, is a story that certainly sets the perfect stage for the mindset of a child that experiences a bumpy ride into adulthood on a roller coaster of life, driven by the need for a human emotion called love; a loveable girl - child, who finally matures into a wise and responsible woman, prepared to face her fears and conquer the inner negative spirits that attempt to off-set her reality with images of fantasy, that threaten her sense of self."
