It should further be noted that some of the information such as the process for fingerprinting and background checks is specific to the State of Maine. Regulations and processes may differ widely among states and school districts. Topics include a day in the life of a professional sub, classroom management including four principles and five skills, legal considerations and special education, teaching strategies, and action-planning. Resources include websites, a substitute's checklist, sample lesson plans and some questions and answers about substitute teaching in a public school.
