Notă biografică

Olga M. Karpova, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Vice-Rector for Public Relations and Head of the English Philology Department at Ivanovo State University, Russia, founder of Ivanovo Lexicographic School. She trained 28 Doctors of Philology. Professor Karpova specialises in theory and practice of English lexicography, being particularly interested in writers' dictionaries of different types with special emphasis on Shakespeare lexicography. She is the author of 21 books and 300 articles. Olga Karpova is a member of EURALEX with two Verbatim Awards (1993, 1997); International Society for Historical Lexicology and Lexicography (UK); National Association of Applied Linguistics (NAAL, Russia), etc. She has numerous awards for outstanding scientific achievements and initiatives. She is currently the Project Leader of the Dictionary for Guides and Tourists Florence in the Works of World Famous People created with support of Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation. Faina I. Kartashkova, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the English Philology Department at Ivanovo State University, Russia. She defended two dissertations on Functioning of Synsemantic Nouns in the Text (Leningrad State University, 1980) and Indirect Nomination in English Speech (Saint-Petersburg State University, 2001). Her research interests cover the issues of speech and non-verbal communication with special reference on gender aspect, phraseology and culture-through-language studies. Prof. Kartashkova is the founder and Head of the Interregional Laboratory of Communicative Human Behaviour that counts 32 scholars. She is a member of International Association of Cognitive Research, published 120 papers, among them 5 books on indirect nomination and interrelation of non-verbal and verbal communication. She trained 13 PhD students.
