Murder by Milk Bottle
Autor Lynne Trussen Limba Engleză Paperback – 10 noi 2020
In the wake of two extremely high-profile murder cases, and with the summer of 1957 finally winding down, Constable Twitten is eagerly anticipating a quiet spell at work. But his hoped-for rest is interrupted when he and his colleagues find a trio of bodies, all murdered with the same unusual weapon: a milk bottle.
The three victims are seemingly unconnected-a hardworking patrolman, a would-be beauty queen, and a catty BBC radio personality-so Constable Twitten, Sergeant Brunswick, and Inspector Steine are baffled. But with Brighton on high alert and the local newspaper churning out stories of a killer on the loose, the police trio is determined to solve the case and catch the killer.
Charming, witty, and full of the joyfully zany characters Truss's readers have come to love, Murder by Milk Bottle will delight old fans and new alike.

The glorious return of Constable Twitten and the doughty coppers of 1950s Brighton for a third adventure is a cause for celebration ... As ever the fun is in Truss's keen ear for dialogue, original comic characters and affectionate(ish) recreation of a seaside resort in its slightly sleazy heyday
A delight. Lynne Truss has great affection for her characters, who fully inhabit 1950s Brighton. The backgrounds of gang warfare and milk marketing come together to sublime comic effect. There are some lovely lines - and a cheerily high body count. Enormous fun
If you enjoy knock-about farce played at hectic speed, this is the book for you
Outstanding . In her ability to blend crime and farce, Truss is in a class of her own
A nicely managed farce with thoroughly likeable characters and a terrific period feel
A ridiculously funny caricature of the seaside town of Brighton
Murder by Milk Bottleflows at a swift pace ... Truss's approach to crime fiction owes as much to English comedy classics like "The Goon Show" and "Monty Python's Flying Circus" as to vintage British police-procedural series like "Dixon of Dock Green" or "Fabian of the Yard." Her sharp-toothed whimsy may be an acquired taste, but it's one well worth savoring
More Marx Brothers than Agatha Christie, this is crime fiction turned on its head - a giddy spell of sheer delight
[A] pitch-perfect send-up of 1950s Brighton with nods to Graham Greene ... Hilarious
Funny, clever, charming, imaginative, nostalgic and gently satirical
