When author Rosa Murdock joins Red Hat Society's "Ritzy Intellectual Dames," she is unaware it will lead her into extreme danger. She hesitates, but accepts the town gossip's request to supervise the judging of Del Mar's annual "Fabulous Hat Contest" celebrated in conjunction with the racetrack opening. Rosa works with Attorney Jim McAllister, who oversees the racetrack entrants. McAllister had married sexy Kim Hill, whom he met while entering a horse in the Kentucky Derby. The marriage turns sour when Kim works at his law office and hires a young lesbian-minded secretary. Greed leads them to join forces and steal his money.
