The book introduces at least two key language words on each page and focuses on teaching the language as a whole. Author Chandni Bhatia wrote her first picture book entitled My First Hindi Book to introduce Hindi words to her daughter as well as other young children in Hindi-English bilingual households. She believes short and frequent reinforcement and repetition of the language offers Indian children living abroad the ability to really learn the language thus offering them a genuine connection to their culture.
