My Friend Cory is about a child living with a disability. Cory is based on the author, Shakeyla Shinholster who has a form of Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita(AMC). Having AMC results in Cory not being able to use his arms or legs, but that doesn't stop him from living his life. He has many talents. This book was created to inspire children. Shakeyla wants them to know that it is okay to be different, and to be friends with those who are different as well.
