National Reconciliation in Eastern Europe

This book analyzes the sources of ethnic and class conflict in post-Communist Eastern Europe. It presents thirteen articles by leading scholars offering different approaches to mediating, facilitating, and resolving these tensions, based on case studies in Hungary, Bulgaria, the Baltic States, and Yugoslavia. Among the topics discussed are higher education, the role of women, nationalism, minorities, and religion. An introduction and conclusion by the editor set these issues in context.
