Notă biografică

Yael Almog is a Doctoral Candidate in the German Department at the University of California at Berkeley, researching various constellations of the study of literature, theology and philosophy. Examining the appearance of the Hebrew language in eighteenth-century writings, including Hamann, Herder and Mendelssohn, as well as some twentieth-century texts, such as the poetry of Lasker-Schuler and Celan, her dissertation establishes that Hebrew has become a trope that marks both the emergence of literary hermeneutics and its destabilizing. Her other interests include secularism, particularly in regard to German-Jewish relations, Hebrew literature, and textual circulation. Erik Born is pursuing a concurrent PhD in German and Medieval Studies with a Designated Emphasis in Film & Media at the University of California, Berkeley. His research interests include mysticism, vernacular theology, the secularism debates, and the relation between old and new media.
