This index contains the name and unit of service for 12,900 men who served in the Civil War from New Mexico. It includes the man's name and unit (Regiment or Battalion) of service. A Bibliography showing available materials for research is also included.
We have identified 27 known discreet units formed in New Mexico from an inventory made by the National Archives of the various rosters and service records. Only a handful have firsthand accounts and regimental histories available.
