Textul de pe ultima copertă

Explore the history of forty legendary inns, restaurants, and taverns throughout New York City and the Hudson Valley that are still in existence today. Travel to the tavern where George Washington hosted a dinner for his officers at the end of the American Revolution, or where a British spy was imprisoned in luxury. Dine in the same spot where Abraham Lincoln ate mashed potatoes, or where Frank Sinatra devoured dessert. Discover clubs that played key roles in the civil rights movement, and others that inspired classic books, poems, and songs. Rest your head in a house built by Dutch settlers. Have a beer where Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Mickey Mantle unwound after a game. Part historical record and part travelogue, this fascinating book offers a fast-paced tour of the region's most storied eating establishments and overnight accommodations.
